About
Content writer
“I hired Kendra to develop and write a book on southern cooking that was part of an existing cookbook series published by Ten Speed. Kendra was easy to work with; she has rich storytelling abilities, a positive and sparkling personality, and is a complete professional. I keep bugging her to write another book!”
About me
Hello and welcome!
My name is Kendra Bailey Morris, and I’m a seasoned writer, editor, author and content creator with 20-plus years in the biz. From features, profiles and essays to originally crafted digital content, branded content, blogging and targeted B2B/B2C copy, I’ve worked with some of the top companies in the business and written articles for some of the most well respected publications in the country. I’ve worked with clients across many different industries, from food and manufacturing to nonprofits, trade, retail and hospitality.
When it comes to marketing copy and content, I’m here to help bring your brand to life by capturing its own unique compelling story. Reports, product descriptions, blog content, web content, presentations, email marketing, newsletters, white papers, media announcements, speech writing, script writing and press releases are just some of the ways I can help your brand share its own personal story to gain more leads, loyalty and customers.
As a freelance journalist my bylines have appeared in numerous print and online publications including NPR, Better Homes and Gardens, Business Insider, The Washington Post, Wine Enthusiast, Epicurious, Food52, Slate, Parade, Extra Crispy, Taste, Food Republic, Tasting Table, Grit, Daily Meal, Virginia Living and The Richmond Times Dispatch. From short and snappy prose to in-depth, researched reporting, my portfolio reflects many diverse writing styles and topics.
I’m also the author of a fun, quirky cookbook called, “The Southern Slow Cooker: Big-Flavor, Low-Fuss Recipes for Comfort Food Classics” (Ten Speed Press/Penguin Random House, 2013) and I have an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from Virginia Commonwealth University.
When I’m not digging into another writing project, I’m usually digging in my vegetable garden with my trusty Australian Shepherd Hankdog at my side.
